Story 3: a hardworking man is a blessing for the right woman. A man who works 80 hours/week and is willing and capable of paying your bills is a blessing for the right woman. If you’re not that woman, don’t try to force it. You’ll make yourself miserable. If taking care of all house chores isn’t the life you want, he might just not be the guy for you. Does he call you childish and say he feels like your parent because he’s paying your bills? No. I’m sure he actually feels good that he’s able to provide for you. Try changing your mindset. Try feeling thankful that you have a good man and feel good about taking care of him when he’s home. He’s made it pretty clear where he stands. He doesn’t want to change his ways. If he doesn’t want to turn the lights off, he pays the light bill. Who cares? And is it really that much trouble to take his plate when he’s done eating? My two cents as a blue collar wife anyway 🤷🏻‍♀️

I need this today. I'm in the process of writing in because my entire life got flipped upside down like 20min after group tea last week. And I really need some help. I thought about posting on reddit but I've seen so much negativity from people and I know I can trust this community a lot more (I hope) to not to be judgemental or rude. Also, I did send a dm on Instagram at some point during the great Souderton/Sellersville ex husband/girlfriend/children/police shit show. Right now, please I can use all the prayers I can get. And maybe bail money....🤦‍♀️

Story 2. You need to talk to your husband at first place and he has to have your back and say no to your children too, until you two will decide together that you can take a pet and on what conditions exactly. While children are nagging tell them you will talk to your husband and later tell them WE decided not to take a dog for (insert reasons). And he should say the same, that WE didn't agreed to take a dog. You should not be the only bad guy even if your spouse wants a dog too. Talk with him to make clear why you don't want the pet now and/or what conditions would they have to met to you reconsider and what will happen if they will stop taking care of the dog. There was a story on reddit where mom had a condition, that they had to go for a long walk every day for two months (she tracked their location) without skipping a day. It took them several years until they were able to do it. They had to earn that privilege to have a dog. My friend did something else, she made a deal with her aunt, who was willing to take a dog in case they stopped caring for him. The deal was made before they took a pet and she didn't worried what will happen if they will not keep their word, she already had a plan. This also helped motivate her children to not slack, because they knew there is actionable plan to re-home the pet and not just empty words.

Story 1. How they come to conclusion those lilies killed that cat? Was there evidence of chewed lilies? Was there toxicology report? Anything could kill a cat and while lilies are very toxic, doesn't mean that was the cause of his death. For sake of your friendship tell that you would never harm animal on purpose, that you don't know what happened to the cat (unless you know) and that it could be various things and either give her a choice to live with you without pet or move out. Or if you are willing to try with a pet again, make very clear rules about her being entirely responsible for safety of her pet. She has to make sure the pet is living in save environment and restrain him either to her room only, or she needs to watch him or make other room pet safe.

Story nr 5: Step up for your dog and start to be a fierce advocate for his sake. What he endured was horrible abuse. But it is done, you can't take it back, but you can make sure nobody will abuse him ever again. Stop bringing the dog to your sister's in law home if possible. And if you are with your dog, be his guardian and be very alerted all the time and DO NOT LET the sister in law to put her hand on the dog, make a scene calling her out for abuse if it is necessary, just do not accept that behaviour any more. Do not let children to play with the dog without your close supervision and make sure they learn how they can and cannot touch a dog, explain to children that he feels pain and that they can't hit him or pull his tail. And if necessary treat your sister in law like she is a 5 years old and explain to her how to treat dog too, because she apparently never learned. Do not accept her constant abuse in silence, be brave for your dog and stand up for him!!!

He stopped seeing it as a team effort. He's bailed on her emotionally. Married couples go through this too. He's right, she shouldn't make her happiness depend on him. She's right, he shouldn't be trying to take breaks from his family without giving her an equal-ish one. Teamwork

Jerry and morgan, I don’t know what’s in the air. We had to put my childhood dog down a week ago today too, probably a few days after holly. Me and 3 of my very close friends (we were all very close when we were younger) have all had to put childhood dogs down within the span of the past month. It is so heartbreaking saying goodbye to a family member, but you guys really could not have posted this at a better time❤️‍🩹 they must have been getting lonely up there without us and needed each other more. I can only hope they are running around having all the fun together. My heart goes out to you all. I have been watching you guys for a over 2 years now and always felt so connected to you guys through your heartfelt advice.❤️

The story about the person with POTS feeling like they’re a failure: YOU ARE NOT! I was diagnosed with POTS at age 16 and really wasn’t able to get better til age 19. It took years of going to doctors to try and figure out A, what it was and B. The best treatment concoction to be put on. My mother was a godsend through the whole process. She recognized that I was going through a MAJOR life change and was really grieving my “old” life and what I thought I was going to do. She signed me up to see a professional who was trained in therapy for people who have chronic illnesses. It was so incredibly important to have the tools to help yourself both mentally and physically. I was able to feel better at 19 and was able to have a job but unfortunately had to quit due to my increased symptoms. Fainting at work 3x a week just wasn’t gonna work 😬 ultimately us potsies have a path of incredible ups and downs but ultimately you NEED to put your body first otherwise it will tell you to stop one way or the other. My advice is to talk to your family, grieve the life you thought you were gonna have, see a therapist, and really practice self care. Your body is amazing and it’s having a hard time. Be kind to yourself and do what’s best for you in this moment, I am so sorry you are going through this ❤ I’m thinking of you!

Late to this story- but the story with the friends husband- She can approach it in a way that is like hey, I just wanted to ask if you and your husband are looking for a third, or open relationship ect.. because he reached out, and I wanted to make sure it was maybe under those circumstances? Fess up to everything else, because honesty is best at all points, and be willing to distance yourself. Wife is going to experience this others, the best thing you can do for her if she doesn’t know is to tell her, otherwise she is going to be wasting years with this man if, if they don’t have an open relationship

Story #3 has me so triggered. I have always been the black sheep. I'm the oldest and my parents had me young, and my other siblings didn't come along until my parents had made something of themselves, so they didn't really go through the traumas I have, and have always been golden while I'm gold-plated. Especially my brother. When I was in high school I wanted to do an exchange year in Italy. My parents are divorced. Mom was super supportive and even though we couldn't afford it she made it happen. My dad would threaten me and try to bribe me not to go. For example, if I didn't go to Italy, I would be allowed to come on family Summer vacations, out to eat, etc. We'll I went to Italy. I came back, and I didn't even have a bedroom. My clothes were gone. My brother got my things and what he didn't want got trashed. Not even donated. All of my early childhood artwork, projects I had poured my heart into, baby clothes, my baby blanket, first everything. I saw myself as a baby for the first time at 25 years old. I'm 26. My mother was broke and is now in recovery, so at the time, she couldn't keep track of everything, so it was all given to my dad. And he threw away every. Single. Bit. I am still healing from it. Not sure if I will ever be able to let it go when my siblings have had everything I wished for, not that I would ever want any different for them. It just hurts to see what I could have had. Especially when we visit my fiancé's parents. He lived in the same house his whole life which his parents still live in. I was so overwhelmed my first time visiting we had to leave. I couldn't take being in a house, for the first time, where they were simply one big happy family. I love my parents, and each have grown into wonderful people whom I have wonderful, deep relationships with. I don't know how to wrestle this feeling of resentment for someone I love so much that it isn't worth bringing up.

Story 3 unpopular opinion: if your belongings are important to you, as an *adult*, it is your responsibility to get your things out of someone else's house. Sister may have thought that if the things were important, OP would have taken it already. OP left clutter in Grandma's house thinking it would always be there.

OMG, that final person that wanted more with their person, and I laughed out loud when you suggested going fishing in a swimming pool, and it reminded me that part of my parent’s lore, on their first date they found a table tennis table, and played table tennis with an imaginary invisible ball. I think that’s why my mom fell in love with my dad, because it was his idea. As family memorabilia has trickled down, we found my mom’s letter home when she met my dad, and told them about the imaginary ping pong game, and my grandmother was gobsmacked at why my mom liked this guy.

And there's tons of other flowers and stuff that are toxic to cats and dogs. We had to move a small fig tree outside because my cat likes to munch on leaves and fig trees are toxic to cats (he is fine). Everyone is still learning the abundance of things that are toxic to our pets.
